To our amazing supporters
I would like to take a few minutes to express how much your time and donations mean to our organization. Without you we wouldn’t be able to respond to our troops’ requests for care packages; it’s that simple.
When I learned that my children and son-in-law would be deployed at the same time, I realized I had to do something or I would go crazy from the worry. I never dreamed in those first months in my living room that I would be here today thanking thousands of individuals I’ll never get to meet.
Our focus at Operation Shoebox is finding ways to thank our members of the military and meeting their practical needs. They make sacrifices that we will never comprehend. But I would be remiss if I didn’t also share our gratitude to each of you. Some of you organize collection drives; some of you sew Christmas stockings; some of you adopt troops; some of you donate money to pay for shipping. Each gift makes a difference.
And in our ongoing drive to meet daily demands, it is important to me to pause and make sure you know the impact of what you do. I hope you read the “thank you” letters from men and women who have received an operation shoebox package. You can find them here or on our Facebook page.
The best thanks I can give you is to direct you to the troops’ own words. I know when I read them I am all the more determined to do everything I can to lift our troops’ spirits and let them know how much we appreciate them.
Finally, I would like to add a personal note of thanks. As a military mom, this work is very personal to me. This project began because it was my sons, my daughter, my in-law’s overseas. You are supporting men and women who are just like my kids. So on behalf of parents all across the country, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
