Greetings from Qatar.  I just wanted to send a “Thank You” your way for thinking of us and taking the time to sew and put together goodie bags for us.  My favorite item in the bag was the single star from the American flag along with the saying.  I took it out of the little plastic bag and laminated it and I carry it with me every day in my uniform.
It’s nice to know folks back in the states appreciate what we are doing.  Thank you once again.  May God bless you and yours as well.

I would like to say thank you so much for the coffee and cookies that you sent our way.  You guys went above and beyond what I expected and my unit thanks you.  We also got a kick out of the letters from the kids at Mountain Vista High School in Colorado.  There were some good laughs at the jokes they had put in their letters.  Once again, thank you and God bless.

Thank you so much for [your care package with] the caps.  My guys and I are very grateful for your effort to support us while we are deployed.  Your caps have flown around Afghanistan multiple times so they have been broken in and have been put to good use.  We want you to know your care for us has been  well appreciated.  We wish we could thank you in person but for most of us we will be home shortly.  Thanks for keeping us warm.  God bless you and your family!!  Thanks,

SGT  JESSE D, US SPECIAL OPERATIONS.

Thank you for your tremendous support you have given to my Company.  We will be leaving soon, but you really made our holidays very special and your generosity went a very long way here.  Everyone was always very excited to see your boxes come in.  We tried to go all out for Christmas to keep everyone cheerful through the holiday.  Thank you again for all of the support you have given us.

Hello, I would like to extend a warm thank you for all that you all have done for my Soldiers located here in Afghanistan.  I am the First Sergeant for Headquarters Company.  I am just arriving to our final location and this is where we operate from.  I noticed the stockings that were sent and passed out to our Soldiers. I want you to know the looks on their faces were priceless.  Knowing they would be away from family during the holiday this let them know that they are not forgotten, Thanks for all that you all do

Good morning,

How are you today? I just wanted to thank so much for the box that we received during the holidays! I am currently deployed to the Persian Gulf aboard the USS John C Stennis CVN74.  We have been gone since 30 August of 2012. The contents of the care package were enjoyed by many. We recently just completed a port visit in the United Arab Emirates in the city of Dubai. It was a great relief for the crew, we were able to Skype with our families during Christmas, make phone calls and enjoy the sights that Dubai has to offer.  I hope that your holidays were kind and good to you.  Your care package made it better for us!

It’s truly a delight to get surprise packages in the mail. You all help to make the holidays away from family and friends a little more bearable. Thank you again for thinking of us and supporting the troops.

Dear Operation Shoebox Volunteers,

I wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks on behalf of Soldiers and civilians alike for the numerous Christmas stockings you sent our way. I have simply been blown away by your generosity as the stockings keep trickling in one box at a time. And even though we still may receive some after Christmas because the mail has been a little slow as of late, we will continue to pass them out to those who are in need of the items you sent our way in those stockings.

In the pictures that I attached to this email, you will see both Soldiers and civilians receiving these stockings. Because you sent us so many, we were able to reach out to the civilians who work so hard to keep our FOB functioning in a proper manner. One group of civilians are those who wash, dry and fold all of our laundry on a daily basis. The other group of civilians are those who keep us fed on a daily basis.

My Chaplain Assistant and I were both blown away by the response of both Soldiers and civilians alike who received these stockings. So, on behalf of all the Soldiers and civilians who have received a stocking thus far and those who will receive one in the future, thank you so much. You all are a blessing. May God bless.

For God & Country,

CH (CPT) Daniel G

Thank you for the care packages.  Being away from family and friends during the holiday season can be a stressful time for the troops. Your kind gesture is much appreciated by the members of our unit. It is good to know that folks back home realize we are out here.  Once again, thank you for your words of support and encouragement.  We hope that you and your families enjoy the holiday season.

Dear members of Operation Shoebox,
My name is Thomas E.  I am a Captain in the U.S. Army and currently deployed to Afghanistan.  I am currently the HHC Executive Officer for 2-7 IN.   My unit recently received many care packages from your members.   I especially want to thank you for the part of the flag that can’t be   flown any more and I wanted to let you know I keep it on me every day.  On behalf of my Soldiers and myself I wanted to send back our thanks.  I apologize that I do not have photos to send back of my Soldiers receiving the packages.  They very much appreciated the items you sent.  I wish I could express how much mail and care packages affect Soldiers morale.  This could not have come at a better time with it about to be the holidays.  While it is tough to spend time away from friends, family, and loved ones my Soldiers understand our mission is critical and are very proud to serve.  They are doing a phenominal job and their spirits are kept high by receiving packages like yours.  Thank you again for your generous support.  God Bless and Happy Holidays!
Very Respectfully,
Thomas E.
